Welcome Back to School

The first week was a whirlwind, and lots of fun! It ran a lot more smoothly than expected (doesn't hurt to have 5 returning students who know the routine).

I pulled out all the classic favorites: housekeeping for Dramatic Play, the cars and road mat in the Blocks area, dry erase boards in the Writing Center, puzzles, plus water colors for Art. We even ate a favorite snack, goldfish crackers and apple juice. Outside, we got to play with our new addition, the Swing Set! I have been so excited all summer to get the kids on it. They loved it, but as usual flocked to the sensory table (and I got a second smaller one) and they were both full of water and ducks.
In large group, we learned class rules, each other's names, and sang new songs. We measured ourselves to compare later and watch how we grow. We also started off with new helpers. They will change weekly, but this week they did their jobs one day only, so other kids could get a chance the first week.

A few changes this year:

New mirror. So fun in Dramatic Play to let them check themselves out!

New Reading Center set up

New Schedule, with the addition of small group to accommodate different ages this year.

Class helpers (lights, doors, weather, days in school)

We are off to a great start!

Forgot to add that we decorated our summer tree. We gathered leaves outside to make leaf prints. We painted them green, then stamped them onto paper. I cut them out once they were dry. Some turned out great, and others stamped a leaf, then finger painted all over. They were still green so it worked!
